authlogic_openid ability to configure options that can only be set during account creation, not updating?

Reported by Daniel | April 2nd, 2009 @ 02:33 PM

Presently, acts_as_authentic, in authlogic_openid, uses the following line to mass-set attributes based on the values prior to the OpenID dance: self.attributes = session_class.controller.session[:openid_attributes]

This won't work for attributes that are not attr_accessible, as in the following example: during account creation, a user e-mail field may be set automatically, and the account placed in a non-confirmed state. But during updating, if the e-mail address is changed, the e-mail is stored in a temporary table until the user can confirm the new address.

Can the authlogic_openid plugin be configured to handle these cases? Is there another recommended approach?

Thank You,

Daniel
