NoMethodError: undefined method `acts_as_authentic_config' in tests.

Reported by Sean Kirby | March 23rd, 2009 @ 04:50 PM

When running test:functionals in our rails app (2.1.2) with authlogic 2.0.1 we get the following exception when attempting to login using set_session_for

NoMethodError: undefined method `acts_as_authentic_config' for #<Class:0xb4ed0148>
    /home/sskirby/src/packmanager/dev_auth/vendor/rails/activerecord/lib/active_record/base.rb:1672:in `method_missing_without_paginate'
    /home/sskirby/src/packmanager/dev_auth/config/environment.rb:60:in `method_missing'
    /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/authlogic-2.0.1/lib/authlogic/testing/test_unit_helpers.rb:13:in `session_class'
    /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/authlogic-2.0.1/lib/authlogic/testing/test_unit_helpers.rb:18:in `set_session_for'
    ./test/functional/users_controller_test.rb:22:in `setup'
    /home/sskirby/src/packmanager/dev_auth/vendor/rails/activerecord/lib/../../activesupport/lib/active_support/testing/setup_and_teardown.rb:32:in `run'

Our tests run perfectly fine with authlogic 1.4.3.

Doing a quick grep for 'act_as_authentic_config' in 1.4.3 vs. 2.0.1 shows that authlogic/orm_adapters/active_record_adapter/acts_as_authentic/config.rb is gone along with its associated tests. No one appears to be defining the cattr_accessor :acts_as_authentic_config anymore. Perhaps the victim of a merciless refactoring?

Object based authentication solution that handles all of the non sense for you. It's as easy as ActiveRecord is with a database.
