Production mode error: undefined local variable or method `acts_as_authentic'

Reported by whatthefunk | September 21st, 2010 @ 08:10 PM

I'm using the AuthLogic gem in my rails app. It works fine in the development environment but when I switch to production environment and config.cache_classes = true, I get an error preventing the app from starting:

/home//rails//app/models/book.rb:2: undefined local variable or method acts_as_authentic' for Book:Class (NameError) [...]

"Book" happens to be the first class who's model includes acts_as_authentic. I'm using authlogic (2.1.5) and rails (2.3.5). Any ideas?

The best I can surmise, the point of the snippet is that the typical current_user object provided by devise isn't available due to channels not being able to access the current session (see notes) - so in order to check the current_user Walgreens Listens.
