Authlogic and Java(J2EE) Integration

Reported by Abhishek | July 5th, 2009 @ 03:45 PM

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the wonderful library.
We have implemented Authlogic in our web-site for authentication as Single Sign On.
Up till now we were using only rails for development. But due to certain scenarios we have to go with the Java/J2EE solution for our up coming application. This application will use the same SSO solution that we have developed using Authlogic.

For this I wanted to know how we can integrate java & authlogic. If you have some solution please let me know. or let me know the way we can implement it. We will develop it and contribute it.

Thanks again.
Regards,
Abhishek

Hi, sorry for the delay. A lot of this has to do with your setup and what you want to accomplish, but the best thing to do is offer authentication as a service. This way anything can use it. Just like any other service, set it up as a REST service and have your J2EE app consume it. If authentication was successful do what you need to do on the J2EE side to create a cookie and persist their session. Unless the apps are in an internal network I would just have this cookie persist for the entire session, and check their credential upon session creation. Because I doubt you want to hit the authlogic service every time a request comes through.

    Hope this helps.
