View helpers in searchlogic 2?

Reported by Zach Holman | July 23rd, 2009 @ 03:24 PM

I really dig what you've done with 2.0 in terms of slimming down the codebase and really focusing on core functionality rather than edge cases. That said, we're interested in upgrading our existing app to 2.0 but do miss the helpers available in previous versions of searchlogic- order_by_link, for example.

Is there any plan on adding some of these back into searchlogic? Either way, I'd be interested to hear the rationale for or against.

    rtfm ;)

    The helper was just renamed. Instead of just renaming the
    helper a deprecation-message would have been nice, anyway.

    Oh, you're kidding me. I literally spent a minute or two in the RailsHelpers module yesterday and apparently didn't see it or something crazy-moronic like that. I'm so awesome.

    Thanks for pointing that out, Falk! :)

    Yeah I agree a deprecation notice would have been nicer, I apologize for that. Anyways, you do:

    order @search, :by => :column_name, :as => "Optional text"

    It should be simpler. Let me know if you have any other issues.
